The Sudanese government said that it would stop air raid on SPLA positions in south Sudan and the Nuba Mountains. The Sudanese statement, however, said the Sudanese Army reserved the right to protect individuals and supply lines and coping with any aggression aimed at achieving any battlefield gains in manipulation of this decision." The SPLA immediately accused the Khartoum government of lying and said the government declaration was propaganda.
