The US has had 800 military personnel in Djbouti, on the northern border of Somalia, for several months, mostly operating aircraft. Some of these have been supporting operations in Yemen while others have been supporting US ships at sea with supply runs. The Foreign Minister of Djbouti said that the American troops had been training "in preparation for the next few months" but the Pentagon refused to give any details over what these troops have been doing.--Stephen V Cole
