Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe reportedly had 400 farms repossessed from their black Zimbabwean owners. These farms were farms taken from white Zimbabwean owners as part of Mugabes land redistribution program. What gives? The Zimbabwean government will give the farms to people waiting for land. Its unclear what this means, but many of the farms were given to Mugabes pals, ZANU-PF party officials, government ministers, and military officers. This may be an attempt to curb criticism from the increasingly militant Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), the main democratic opposition movement in Zimbabwe.
