India's northeast suffered multiple terror bombings. Three went off in Nagaland, killing 26 and wounding 86. In neighboring Assam, 18 died and 32 were wounded when gunmen opened fire in market places. The region has suffered separatist violence for over fifty years. The local tribes resent the migration of people from other parts of India, and illegal migration from neighboring Bangladesh. While the government has made peace with some of the larger rebel groups, there are still about 30 groups out there that are still planning, or making, attacks. The violence in Nagaland and Assam was apparently not connected, and no one took credit for any of the attacks.
