South Korea's T-50 Golden Eagle advanced combat-capable jet trainer aircraft has made its first flight. The Koreans expect to make about 50 flights using two prototypes this fall; two more prototypes are under development. These will replace the old trainers (Hawk-67s and T-38s) and the old F-5 fighters. South Korea plans to buy about 94 aircraft, but expects to grab hundreds of export sales as the world transitions to a new generation of advanced jet trainers.--Stephen V Cole
